Jul 22, 2022 Abortion court ruling restores democracy
As the left shouts that the recent US Supreme Court ruling on abortion is a threat to democracy, Project 21 President Horace Cooper noted that this is in fact “a return to the democratic process”.
In a Newsmax commentHorace explained the importance of the Court returning the morally contentious issue of abortion to the people and their elected representatives.
Liberal politicians, radical activists and the establishment media push the idea that the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision takes away rights and is undemocratic.
“[T]his couldn’t be further from the truth,” Horace retorted:
Let’s go back to the facts. The Dobbs the case arose out of a Mississippi state law to ban abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy. This democratic act directly challenges abortion on demand, but instead of nullifying [Roe v. Wade] it actually reverses another decision: Family planning c. Casey…
Roe’s original abortion right was trumped up by the Supreme Court, and he asserted that the abortion right was somehow protected by the Constitution although it was never mentioned in the Constitution – nowhere. deerThe inconsistency of has been criticized on the right and on the left, including by progressives like Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Casey turned out not to be better…
Judge Samuel Alito asserted that the Court has never had the right or the power to enforce deer. Both deer and Casey are long-standing violations of the 10th Amendment that should never have been violated.
Additionally, Horace noted the Dobbs decision brought to the fore “a new but not unfamiliar left-wing dogma” perpetuated by the left that “the justice system itself is after our individual rights and freedoms and poses a threat to democracy.” These, he remarked, are simply sour grapes:
The left only praises and respects our democratic standards when they are favorable to its program. But when they are not, our system and its standards must go with them.
Leftists believe that the end justifies the means, and if they have to sacrifice common sense, the rule of law, democracy, judicial precedent, and the legitimacy of the court… “so be it.”
“We won that fight in the courtroom. But those who support the unborn cannot rest,” Horace wrote. “In a country where progressives advocate imposing the most sweeping abortion policy on planet Earth, protecting the unborn child will require constant vigilance.”
