Memorial Service for Joy Henbest

Sue Henchley represented local Liberal Democrats at a Memorial Service for Joy Henbest. The service was held at All Saints Church, Longhope.

Joy had been a leading Liberal Democrat in the Forest of Dean. She  was Chair of the local Lib Dem Executive Committee and, as District Councillor for Longhope, she was leader of the Liberal Democrat group on the Forest of Dean District Council.

As one of her Lib Dem colleagues said “For all of us Joy was an inspiration; a conscience; a friend and a most wonderful person”.

Joy and Bob were married for 57 years, living first in London and then moving to Longhope in 1966. Before she retired, she was a teacher and a head teacher in Gloucestershire. She leaves behind daughters Stevie and Vicki, grandchildren Ella and Bex and a great grandson.
