FOREST OF DEAN LIBERAL DEMOCRATS
Sal Brinton, president of the National Liberal Democrat Party visited Minsterworth
Village Hall on Friday April 15th. Lib Dem members and supporters from across Gloucestershire
turned out to welcome her.
The evening started with a delicious meal and this was followed by a very interesting
talk on the state of politics in the UK today.
Sal described the steps that the Tories are taking to make sure that they don’t lose
future elections - boundary changes, cuts to funding of opposition parties, cuts
to union funding for Labour.
Despite doing very badly at the General Election, the Lib Dems have regrouped and
started a Fightback campaign. When people have expressed surprise at the party’s
resilience, Sal’s response has been that our strength lies in the fact that we all
support the party’s core principles.
